DWU–HGU NGET Training Concludes Successfully

The Faculty of Business and Informatics (FBI) at Divine Word University, Madang Campus recently hosted the Handong Global University (HGU) team from South Korea for another successful one-week Next Generation Entrepreneurship Training (NGET) program, marking the fourth consecutive year of collaboration between the two institutions. The training started on Monday, 22nd of June and concluded today.
The opening ceremony was highlighted by the official launching of a new digital podium and speaker system, generously sponsored by the South Korea Ministry of Education through the UNESCO UNITWIN initiative. The new system is expected to significantly enhance teaching, learning, and training activities at DWU.
The newly installed equipment includes a desktop digital podium, two passive wall-mounted speakers, and supporting accessories such as wireless microphones, lapel microphones, power cables, and a stylus. The investment addresses a recurring challenge experienced by the HGU team during their previous visits, where technical difficulties with microphones and speaker systems affected training sessions over the past three years.
In her opening remarks, the Dean of the Faculty, Dr Fiona N’Drower expressed appreciation to the HGU team for their continued commitment and support in delivering the valuable training program at DWU. She acknowledged the importance of the partnership and thanked HGU and its supporting organizations for their contribution towards strengthening capacity development opportunities for staff and students.
The Dean encouraged all participants to take full advantage of the opportunity by actively engaging in the training and gaining valuable knowledge and skills that would contribute towards strengthening their professional profiles and adding an international certificate to their curriculum vitae.
Professor Jinwon Ahn, the UNESCO UNITWIN Program Director, encouraged participants to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and focus on creating innovative solutions using Papua New Guinea’s abundant natural resources. He challenged participants to think creatively and responsibly about how they could contribute to national development through entrepreneurship.
During the conclusion of the training today, Professor Hyunmo Sung encouraged participants to place God at the centre of their entrepreneurial journeys. He reminded students that while having an entrepreneurial mindset is important, success can be achieved when their efforts are guided by faith, purpose, and commitment to making a positive impact in Papua New Guinea.
The closing ceremony concluded with the awarding of certificates of completion to all participants. Outstanding participants were also recognized, with the best team receiving an award for developing the strongest entrepreneurship business plan during the training program.
The continued partnership between DWU and HGU reflects the commitment of both institutions towards empowering students with practical skills, international exposure, and entrepreneurial knowledge to contribute meaningfully to the future development of Papua New Guinea.
